If you get into, especially, river fishing, you’ll spend a lot of time hiking to remote streams and bundu bash through dense shrubbery. If you have your fly rig already set up, managing your flies and leader during this part of your day is essential. If your flies hook onto vegetation they often break off or your leaders get tangled up.
Looking after your flies and leader is something you can do to save you time on the water. You’ll end up spending more time with your flies in the water and, therefore, catching more fish.
April’s winner for the Stream and Sea Fly Fishing Tips competition submitted this great tip to help you look after your flies and leader. We run a monthly Fly Fishing Tips competition where the winner gets a R500 voucher to use at our shop (online or in store).
