We are very excited to offer our guests a trip to St Brandons atoll in the Indian Ocean. St Brandons is a world class fishery where you can catch a host of different species and experience what proper “flats fishing” is.
If you’ve ever dreamt about fishing one of the best atolls in the world, this is your shot. You will not find a more affordable option out there.
There are hundreds of fish species you can catch on St Brandons, but the post popular targets are:
If there’s one fish you need to experience catching in your life, it is the Giant Trevally. Their speed, aggression, and strength is something to behold. St. Brandon’s atoll has some brutes and it’s a fish you wil most definitely encounter.
What is our favourite saltwater fish in the planet? The Bonefish.
St Brandons is home to some incredibly large specimens and they’ll will be one of your main targets on the water each day.
One of the most special fish that swim in the waters of St Brandon’s is the Indo Pacific Permit. They are tricky to catch, but are a very rewarding quarry.
Arrival Day
You will land in Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport located on the South-Eastern part of the Island.
You will need to arrive the day before the official start date of the trip, as the Catamaran will depart early the next morning from Grand Baie.
The night before departure will be in a Hotel or B&B of your choice in Grand Baie where a shuttle will collect you for the early morning departure to St Brandons. We have included some information on the accommodation close to Grand Baie.
Day 1-2
After departing Grand Baie, we officially leave Mauritius out of Port Louis to ensure regulatory obligations are observed. We will sail North for 30-34 hours to the Southern point of St Brandons, taking advantage of some of the opportunities for big pelagic species we may encounter along the way. Depending on our arrival at St Brandons, we will have a first session close to the mother ship to get the arms working before the fishing really kicks off.
Day 3-8
We will go out on skiffs daily to the well-known areas of the Atoll to target a plethora of flats and reef species on the endless miles of sand flats. Take your pick, the options are endless, and the action can be frenetic, especially when the large schools of Bones move in. St Brandons is one of the best destinations in the world to target the Holy Grail, the Permit! We will be there to make sure you have the best shot at getting all of these prize fish and making sure you have some magical photos to keep those memories alive forever! Depending on the tides and the action, we will have lunch back on the mothership and end off the days on the deck with sundowners and some great stories!
Day 9-10
If the forecast and tides are favourable, we will have one last session before we set sail back to Port Louis and Grand Baie. Take it easy on the deck and enjoy the last few sundowners before we check into the accommodation at Grand Baie for one last farewell. You will depart the day after we dock back in Grand Baie to ensure you do not miss flights and can get your gear for the Journey home.
