France Fly

R35.00

The France Fly is a modern euro-style nymph designed for fishing close to the bottom, where trout feed most of the time on South African rivers.

Originally developed for competitive nymphing, the France Fly is a slim, fast-sinking pattern that imitates small aquatic insects such as mayfly nymphs, caddis larvae, and general river invertebrates. Rather than copying a single species, it represents a realistic “something alive” drifting naturally along the riverbed.

In South African conditions — especially in clear rivers with wary trout — slim nymphs that sink quickly and drift cleanly are far more effective than bulky patterns. The France Fly excels in these technical situations.

The France Fly is deadly when:

  • Fishing tight-line or euro nymphing
  • Trout are feeding deep and selectively
  • You need fast sink rates in short drifts
  • Rivers are low, clear, or pressured
  • Used in a dry-dropper scenario and looking for a fly that does not have a hotspot

Its subtle flash and natural profile help it stand out just enough without spooking fish, making it a superb point or dropper nymph.

Tied in-house by Stream and Sea, the France Fly is built with strong hooks, durable materials, and balanced proportions for South African trout rivers.

When presentation matters more than imitation, the France Fly gets eaten.
